Where is Wood St Coffee & Co-working located in Saffron Walden?
We are located at Wood St Coffee Roasters, Unit 44 Shire Hill, Saffron Walden, CB11 3AQ. Our space is a beautifully converted industrial unit that has been softened with natural wood, acoustic ply paneling, and lush plants to create a light, airy, and welcoming environment.
What will the opening hours be?
The co-working space will be open from 8:30 am to 5:30 pm, Monday to Friday. We will be closed on weekends initially, though the venue is available for private hire and events during these times.
Is there parking available at Wood St Coffee?
Yes, we have dedicated on-site customer parking at our Shire Hill location.
Will you offer any perks for green commuters?
Yes! We love green travel. If you walk or cycle to Wood St Coffee for your pre-booked co-working session instead of driving, let our team know at the bar and we will treat you to a free on-site snack to fuel your active start to the day.
What will the work environment and vibe like?
Forget sterile cubicles, fluorescent lighting, and corporate offices. We are building a vibrant, collaborative community hub designed specifically to help local freelancers, remote workers, founders, and creatives escape the loneliness and isolation of working from home. The design features high ceilings, abundant natural light, acoustic paneling to absorb sound, comfortable breakout sofas, and dedicated booths with plant dividers.
Is this a quiet-only co-working space?
No, this is not a quiet-only workspace. We believe in the power of connection and the social "water cooler" moments that remote workers often miss. Our space is designed for people who want to bounce ideas off each other, network, and soundboard in a relaxed, buzzier cafe-style atmosphere. If you need absolute silence or prefer to work with headphones in without any social interaction, you might find working from home is a better fit.
Can I take Zoom, Teams, or phone calls in the space?
Yes, taking the occasional call or online meeting is absolutely fine. However, please note that our space is not designed for back-to-back phone calls or consecutive virtual meetings. Because we favour a collaborative, open-plan layout, we do not have private offices or soundproof phone booths. If your workday involves a packed calendar of back-to-back calls, we highly recommend working from home for the day to ensure you and your clients have the privacy you need.
Are dogs allowed in the co-working space?
Yes, well-behaved dogs are very welcome at Wood St Coffee! We are a dog-friendly space, so feel free to bring your four-legged co-worker along for your session, provided they are comfortable around other people and noise.
