GUEST ESPRESSO - PERU ANCELMO VERA

PRODUCER: Ancelmo Vera

FARM: El Cedro

REGION: El Paraiso, Huabal

PROCESS: Washed

VARIETIES: Caturra

ALTITUDE: 1850 MASL

NOTES: Clementine & toffee

We can't get enough of Peru! Another sweet and tangy washed lot, this time from Ancelmo Vera and his farm, El Cedro. We love the innate dark sugars found in coffees from this area. We're tasting toffee complimented by a tangy clementine-like citrus. Delicious!

A little brighter and a touch bolder than our House Espresso, this Peru has been roasted specifically for those who prefer their espresso without milk. Also great as a punchy filter coffee, we can't wait for you to get stuck in to this fantastic coffee. Find out more about Ancelmo Vera below.

Mr. Ancelmo Vera has been a coffee farmer for around 25 years, managing his farm, El Cedro, in Huabal, located in the picturesque region known as El Paraiso. El Cedro spans 2.75 hectares, sits at an altitude of 1850 meters above sea level (MASL), and yields about 1.3 metric tons per hectare. Due to the high altitude, the coffee cherries ripen over an extended period, from late May to September. Ancelmo shares his coffee-growing knowledge with his family members who work on the farm. Over the last three years, they've focused on specialty coffee production, reinvesting the profits in improving their drying facilities, such as tents. These improvements help mitigate the unpredictable weather challenges faced during the coffee drying process, particularly during the harvest season.

El Paraiso is an ideal region for coffee cultivation, but its remote location presents challenges, including high transportation costs to Jaen for their coffee. Ancelmo and his family remain dedicated to producing quality coffee despite these obstacles.
